Announcements 2004

Voting Results to Amend Bylaws

January 2004 - On November 15, 2003, ballots were mailed to the 352 members who were eligible to vote, asking them if they approved or did not approve amendments to the NSDTRC (USA) Bylaws. A copy of the proposed amendments were included with the ballots.

193 ballots were received by the Secretary on or before December 15, 2003.

Question 1: Do you approve the foreign membership related amendments?
There were 186 votes to approve, 6 votes to not approve, and 1 blank vote.

Question # 2: Do you approve the agility related amendment?
There were 192 votes to approve, and 1 blank vote.

Question #3: Do you approve the "housekeeping" related amendments?
There were 191 votes to approve, 1 vote to not approve, and 1 blank.

Having received favorable votes by more than two-thirds of the voting members who returned valid ballots within the time limit, the amendments were adopted on December 15, 2003.

Announcements 2005

August 2005 - The Officers & Directors of the NSDTRC (USA) have taken a position to oppose the “Pet Animal Welfare Statute of 2005," (“PAWS” - SB1139/HB 2669) to the Animal Welfare Act (AWA.) 


2005 Elections

August 2005 - Pursuant to Article V, Section 4 (f.) of the club Bylaws, no valid additional nominations were received by the Secretary on or before the 60th day before the Annual Meeting, and the nominations were closed. On August 2, 2005 the Secretary cast one (1) ballot for the Nominating Committee's Slate and no further balloting is required. The Secretary notified each candidate.

Those elected to serve on the Board commencing November 1, 2005 are:

Director, Region 1: Patricia Kinsley, New York – (First three-year term)
Director, Region 4: Phyllis L. McDonald, New Mexico – (First three-year term)

Additional nominations of eligible members may be made by written petition addressed to the Secretary (Katie Dugger, 3477 NW Countryman Circle, Albany, OR 97321) and received at her regular address no later than July 22, 2006, signed by three (3) members and accompanied by the written acceptance of each such additional nominee signifying his/her willingness to be a candidate.

If one or more valid additional nominations are received by the Secretary on or before July 22, 2006, she shall, no later than August 5, 2006, mail to each voting member in good standing a ballot listing all of the nominees for each position.

If no valid additional nominations are received by the Secretary on or before July 22, 2006, the nominations will be closed. The members will be notified in the Fall issue of Quackers that the Secretary has cast one (1) ballot for the Nominating Committee's Slate and no further balloting will be required.


November 2005 - The Nominating Committee this year consists of Sue Dorscheid - Chair, Janice Johnson and Betsy Fogg with Paul Kartes  as an alternate. The positions that are up for nomination are President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Region 2 and Region 5 Director.

These positions are currently held by the following people:

Secretary: Katie Dugger
Treasurer: Eric Johnson
Region 2 Director: Patty Beran
Region 5 Director: Janice Johnson

Each year the Nominating Committee selects one candidate for each open position. The names of the people selected by the Nominating Committee are published in the spring issue of Quackers. A member in good standing can also be nominated from the floor by following the directions outlined in the bylaws. If there are nominations from the floor, then there is an election which is held by mail and members vote on the candidates. If there are no nominations from the floor, the Secretary casts one ballot for each person
selected by the Nominating Committee, no voting is necessary, and the candidates selected by the Nominating Committee take office November 1, 2006. The procedures for nominations and elections are well defined by the club's bylaws which are available on the website at Club Bylaws.

2004

November 2004 - Descriptions on two new awards are up on the Trophies & Awards page with links to the rules and application.

November 2004 - The Forms page has been updated with a link to a form: Guidelines for a Supported Entry.

June 2004 - A link to the 2003 OFA results has been added to the Health & Genetics page.  Included are hips, elbows, cardiac & thyroid results on Tollers tested in 2003.  The Eye Registry reporting DNA testing for PRA has been updated with data through May 2004 and is linked from the Eye Registry page.

January 2004 - A new page has been added with pictures of the 2004 National Specialty site: Site Photo Tour.  It is linked from the 2004 National Specialty page.  Additionally, two more photos have been added to the Retriever Journal Photo Contest page.

January 2004 - A link to the Toller Health Coalition Health Survey has been placed on the Health & Genetics page.

November 2003 - A new page, 2004 Specialty, has been added and is linked on the left side of the screen on the Home Page.  This new page will link you to all things related to the 2004 National Specialty in Montgomery, AL.  To kick things off the National Specialty Committee has started an exciting Photo Contest as a fundraiser for the event.  Rules, entry forms and voting forms are available from the 2004 Specialty page.


2005

November 2005 - Interested in presenting a new idea to the Board?  There are Guidelines for submitting a proposal to the Board that can be downloaded from the Forms page.  Scroll down to Other on the page to find the link.

May 2005 - The Health & Genetics Committee has begun a a new initiative to support the UC Davis Addison's study in Tollers.  A new page, Addison's Project,  has been added to request swabs so that you can  collect DNA samples on your Tollers.

March 2005 - The Health & Genetics page has been updated with new information.  A new page listing Health Research projects has been created with links to information about these projects.

February 2005 - The Health & Genetics page has been updated with links to two articles previously published in Quackers about eye diseases in Tollers.  There is also an updated link to the Eye Registry with data collected through 12/31/2004.  The OFA link now provides information on hip, heart, and thyroid certifications on Tollers from 2002 through 2004.


2006

May 2006 - Several updates/additions have been made to the Health & Genetics section of the website:

  • New page announcing NSDTRC (USA) joining the CHIC program
  • Revisions to the  Eye Registry Release & Listing Form (PDF)

May 2006 - For Members Only.  Interested in getting an electronic PDF copy of the club Roster?  Use the interactive Roster Request Form to have the roster sent to you.

April 2006 - The Eye Registry Release & Listing Form has been updated to include reporting CEA results for carrier & affected Tollers.  This form must be completed and sent to Health & Genetics for listing in the Eye Registry.  The form is linked from the Eye Registry page.

April 2006 - The Health & Genetics page has been updated with links to information about Collie Eye Anomaly (CEA) being discovered in Tollers.

April 2006 - Rescue Merchandise has opened a store at CafePress to help support our Rescue Program.  The Toller Rescue Store has lots of great items with a beautiful design done by our own Ann Priddy.

January 2006 - The format & navigation structure of the website had to be rebuilt.  This has resulted in a slightly different look to the website.  We have made every attempt to get the pages properly linked.  If you are unable to find a page that was previously present or if a link doesn't work, please contact the Webmaster.

January 2006 - The Merchandise Order Form has new items.  The new general PowerPoint CD telling you everything you want to know about Tollers is available for ordering.  The club video of the NSDTR has been converted to DVD format and can now be ordered.

December 2005 - The 2006 National Specialty website is now available.  Several Supported Entries are being held in 2006, and information about them can be found on the Events page.
